"This is crazy. Insane. Utter madness." The dog barked his agreement. "There is no way this can be real. I fell into the ground, but there's the sun. And to make it worse, there's the moon." The two stared up at the sky just a little ways over, where it was midnight, and the moon shone bright. Here, where they were standing however, was as bright as noon, and the sun smiled down at them. "Huh." Duke growled, huddling close to his human, who put one small hand on his head to comfort him. "I hear you buddy."
Kirsten turned then, to look at the water, running a hand through her hair, which was wild from her fall and short walk through the woods. "Where do you think we are, Duke?" The moment she asked him, the girl was already shaking her head. "What a stupid question. This has to be a dream. I must have fallen asleep in the sun while exploring."
Duke growled again as if he wasn't quite sure. "Oh hush Duke. I have to be sleeping. And if this is a dream, that means I can't be hurt, so we might as well have a look around." That decide, she checked the violin case on her back to make sure it was still safe, though she wasn't sure why, for she was sure this was a dream, and then started off down the beach, Duke trotting behing her, keeping a wary look out.

Mary-Ann walked silently on the invisible line dividing the beach and forest into two completely separate parts. "If I put poison in the tea then-" her head quickly snapped out of concentration when she heard a bark of some sort. Her head tilted in interest at this new sound. "I wonder what this could be?" she abandoned the invisible line and started walking towards the source of noise.
A human? Curious. It looked like she had somewhere to go, perhaps, she was a wonderlandian, not a human? It's possible... Mary-Ann took up pace and followed behind the girl.

"I never realized I had such a vivid imagination. Maybe I should try to write my own music like gram suggested. I mean, this is so- What is it Duke?" Kirsten finally realized that the dog was growling. "Hey, what's wrong?" She reached down to pet him, but the moment her hand touched his head, he twisted around and bolted back the way they came. Kirsten turned around to see him stop in front of a girl, body tense, tail straight, simply watching her. "Oh, Duke!" She trotted over to him, putting her hand on his head to calm him down. "I'm sorry, he gets overzealous sometimes." The dog continued to stare at the girl, still tense, till Kirsten tapped him lightly on the nose. "Down boy."

Mary-Ann stood perfectly still as the dog charged at her, "Nice mutt." she smirked. "Not good for attacking though, but an excellent watch dog." she then looked at the girl. "You don't look familar." she eyed the girl. She didn't have features of a Wonderlandian, and she dressed differently then them as well, and her manner of tongue was a dead giveaway. Definitely human.. "Your name? If you have one?"

Kirsten bristled at the girl's words, tensing up, and causing Duke to growl slightly, for she still held her hand on his head. "He's not a mutt, thank you, and he didn't attack because you weren't threatening me." She clenched her teeth, calming herself down before replying, "Of course I have a name. Doesn't everyone? I'm Kirsten, and you are?" She watched the girl before her, eyes narrowed, somewhat annoyed that she had to look up at her, even though she seemed younger.

"Kirsten? Well, that definitely proves your human, with that name." she giggled. "My name is Mary-Ann." she eyed the short girl then rolled her eyes over to the dog, and started giggling again.
Mary-Ann's giggle slowed down to a small chuckle as she walked past the girl and her dog. "What are you doing here?" she asked the girl, expecting her to follow.

Kirsten froze at the comment about being human, but quickly shook herself as the girl kept talking. This is a dream, of course it doesn't make sense. Shaking herself once more, the girl jogged to catch up with Mary-Ann. "Nice to meet you. And as for what I'm doing here, I'm pretty sure I'm dreaming. I'm not totally certain though, 'cause this is awfully realistic for a dream, but it's the only thing I can think of. Where am I by the way?"

"Dreaming?" she grinned. "Possible, Possible." she trotted along down the shore line. "Why you are at Day and Night Beach!" she stared over at the dog. "In Wonderland of course..." she looked eyed the dog suspiciously. "Are you sure it only attacks when something or someone threatens you?" she stopped and turned her body completely towards the dog, "It looks harmless."

"Day and Night Beach?" Kirsten looked up at the sky, shaking her head. "I guess that makes perfect sense, considering." She grinned broadly then. "This place must be very wonderful to have a name like that." A hand rested on Duke's head as they stopped. "Yeah, he only attacks when he thinks I'm being threatened. He's rather protective, but other than that he is rather harmless." Meanwhile the dog sat, panting innocently as he looked up at the two girls with big eyes, as if saying, 'I'm cute, pet me!'

"It is rather wonderful." she grinned. "Most of the time you'll find hardly any space over on the Day side. Alot of the other Wonderlandians like to take to the appeal of sun." she then looked around her, "I prefer the night side. Things are much calmer over here."
Mary-Ann looked back down at the dog, "Then I suppose I won't have any problem swith him, eh?" smiling innocently.

"Oh, I wish we had a place like this when I'm awake. To be able to be in night any time you want. That would be amazing!" She looked longingly at the night side, the smallest smile on her pale face. "No problem at all, of course! He's a sweet heart!" Kirsten turned her smile down at the dog, who dashed over to the water and splashed into it, and then looking back up at Mary-Ann.

"It is amazing, but it's not always the best to be by yourself here, especially if you are new and human." she tensed up, serious now. "There are some...interesting characters you need to be suspicious of, when your here. Alot of them like to take advantage of humans such as yourself."

Kirsten grew serious as Mary-Ann did, listening intently. When she finished speaking, the first thing the girl did was pinch herself, trying not to yelp when it hurt. "Guess I'm not dreaming after all. Alright then." She took a deep breath to steady herself, watching Duke splash in the water, before turning back to Mary-Ann. "And who would they be?"

"I could've told you, you weren't asleep." she smiled, but then got serious expression on her face. "Well, there's two in particular you should be careful about. The Mad Hatter and the March Hare. They like to kidnap humans and use them as their play things."

Kirsten smiled back at her, though it slipped off quickly. "Mad Hatter and March Hare. Gotcha." The girl burned the two names into her mind, forcing herself not to forget them. A shudder went down her spine as she thought about being kidnapped and used as a 'play thing'. "Thank you so much. I'd rather not get hurt while I'm here. Is there anyone else?"
